Birdliloquy (solo alto saxophone)

Birdliloquy is a rhapsodic musical soliloquy written for alto saxophone inspired by many gestures, techniques, and sounds used in my collected series Whimsical Sketches of Fanciful Birds (for alto saxophone and piano). The work depicts a curious bird erratically flying about, as expressed through various birdlike motifs and free-flowing lines. While these kinetic moments unfold, moments of lyricism emerge more and more, building to an expressive climax.

This work was written for my friend and colleague, Timothy McAllister, who has been a tremendous inspiration throughout our years of collaborations.
