Vincent Ho’s “Nature whispers…” Selected for International Rostrum of Composers

It has been a busy spring for our Composer-in-Residence Vincent Ho. He spent much of March in Banff, creating a new work for CBC’s Evolution composition competition. There his piece, “Nature whispers…”, was awarded the people’s choice award. Now, “Nature whispers…” has been selected by CBC to represent Canada in an international music competition, taking place in Paris next week.

Vincent’s piece will be heard at the International Rostrum of Composers, an annual celebration of new music from around the world, hosted by the International Music Council. This year’s competition takes place from June 8 to 12. Over the course of the week, judges listen to some 60 works nominated by over 30 national broadcasters.

Also selected was Vez by Ana Sokolovic, which the WSO premiered at the 2009 New Music Festival concert Garden of Eden.
